Job Opportunities
Chemist/Astrobiologist (posted Jul 8, 2011)
The Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution (FfAME) seeks postdoctoral fellows with interest/experience organic chemistry, including organic synthesis and molecular analysis, to lead programs within the NASA Astrobiology Institute. The projects include designing missions to search for life on Mars, laboratory experiments to define possible genetic and metabolism of life living in Titan's methane oceans, and mineral-organic interactions that might have helped life originate on Earth. Salary to meet NIH pay scales.
Chemist/Molecular Biologist (posted Jul 8, 2011)
The Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution seeks postdoctoral fellows and/or staff scientists with interest/experience in the development of DNA-targeted assays, such as real time PCR assays (including isothermal PCR), fluorescence-based assays, Luminex-based assays, and dendrimer assays. The successful individual will be responsible for designing and configuring kits to detect genetic signatures of various cancers, biohazard detection in open environments, and for forensic applications. Salary to meet NIH pay scales.
Enzymologist-Molecular Biologist (posted Jul 8, 2011)
The Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution (FfAME) seeks postdoctoral fellows and/or staff scientists with interest/experience in enzymology and molecular biology, including the cloning and expression of genes, site-directed mutagenesis, purification of proteins, and the assay of proteins. Salary to meet NIH pay scales.
Instrument Manager (posted Jul 8, 2011)
The Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution (FfAME) is seeking an individual with skills in instrumentation design, development, and maintenance to help develop platforms for DNA sequencing, DNA array-targeted synthesis, life detection (including robotic detection such as life in exotic environments and other planets), environmental sampling, and human diagnostics. The successful candidate will be integrated into a DARPA project that uses reagent innovations developed at the FfAME for point of care diagnostics that target DNA.
Instrument Manager (posted Jul 8, 2011)
The Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution (FfAME) seeks individuals to maintain, operate and manage the repair of a suite of major instruments used in chemistry and molecular biology, including the following: mass spectrometer, nuclear magnetic resonance, parallel DNA synthesizer, Luminex, DNA sequencer, and HPLC. Salary to meet NIH pay scales.
Synthetic/Nucleoside Chemist (posted Jul 8, 2011)
The Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution (FfAME) seeks postdoctoral fellows and/or staff scientists with interests/experience in synthetic organic chemistry, especially in the area of nucleosides and nucleotides, to assist in the manufacture and quality control of nucleosides and nucleotides applicable to next-generation DNA sequencing, human diagnostics, and biomedical research. Salary to meet NIH pay scales.
